Few things you can check that weren't mentioned.
First do a dnsflush to clear out any stale records
type "ipconfig /flushdns" in a command prompy without the quotes
1) check that the laptop is getting an IP address and is not a 169.x.x.x address
2) see if you can ping the routers IP address.
2) see if you can ping 72.14.207.99 (google.com)
3) see if you can ping google.com
------
If all of those pass
Then its IE, try resetting all the settings and clearing the cache back to defaults and disable any toolbars. Also you should use
Firefox, Its much securer and faster then IE.
If your not getting an IPaddress Then make sure you are set to DHCP and not static. If that is set correctley then follow the steps under
If you can ping the IP but not the url
If your getting a 169.x.x.x address
Then it could be that you have wireless security on the router that the on board wireless can not do. Try lowering it to standard WEP or None*
*None should ONLY be used for testing, WEP should be used at a minimum
