Termination of parental Rights of an adult
I am looking to Terminate parental rights of a 40 year old man that I adopted when he was 8. After years of drug abuse, burglaries and many other issues, his past now affects a very high security clearance I require for my job. If I am denied I lose my job, which is all I have as far as employment is concerned. I know it sounds cold but it is not fair that other peoples choices screw up other peoples lives. It would only be legal and nothing else would change as far as me being a dad. Has anyone ever done this? I am from jersey. Thank you

You want to terminate your parental rights with respect to your 40 year old son? You want to do this because the fact that your son is a problem child jeopardized your security clearance?

Neither of these statements makes any sense at all. How does the fact that you have an adult son affect your security clearance?

A parent of an adult has no significant rights (as parent) that I can think of which would be terminated. Or, if you mean what you are literally asking (to terminate your son's parental rights), what does his child have to do with this?

Sounds odd yes but the FBI does a national security clearance check that is very thorough and I'm being told that may need to be done. I'm hoping it does not come to that but I need to look into it. I find it strange because at 40 they ar emancipated..

Somebody is pulling your chain.. If your adult son DID something, or IS something that will effect your security clearance, then it will no matter WHAT you do...

Plus, you don't HAVE any parental rights. They disappeared when he became an adult...
