No dear. Gentlemen have scruples. We also have ulterior motives and are not afraid of going after what we want, just in a polite and civil manner. Devious does not mean unscrupulous

There's a new card game out that my son turned me on to. It's called Flux. The cards change the rules as you play.

Sugar, you ain't deserted. It's just that times of grief and bereavement tend to somber up the tone of any conversation. I do apologise, ma'am. I cannot flirt right now.

I'm still here suga', what choo need ma'am?
I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day and quit cold. I just got fed up with having no oxygen and energy. And stinking.
I've always been in shape. Except... I started smoking when I got the job I have now, 13 years ago. At first it wasn't much, 1/2 pack a day, then I got a team leader position. There is a high stress level in the aircraft industry, as 99.9% is not good enough. An airplane can't pull over if something's wrong. Well, my smoking got out of hand, and I was sick of it. When our first son was in the yard he brought me a cigarette butt, when he was about 16 months. Old, and said "Daddy", I quit. Right then. We never smoked in the house ( my wife smoked up until she got pregnant), because we were worried about the second-hand smoke. I took Wellbutrin for about a week, then just stopped. It was hard, but I'm very hard- headed, and succeeded. It's been 6 years now and I'm still O.K.. I'm back in shape and am able to walk mountain trails without coughing up a lung. My inspiration was my son, well... sons now. That's all you need to remember, your daughter. Don't take a chance with your health. Tell Isaac to try to quit too, for her. I know money is tight, so this would be a huge help to the budget.
I know the challenge of quitting, and will never tell someone who doesn't want to quit to try to. I'll never complain about smelling someone's smoke, as long as it's not in a restaurant, or my children's functions. I know people who NEED to smoke, as I don't want to be around them if they try quitting. Not without a tranquilizer gun.
Just be determined, and just DON'T do it.

Hehe joseph, reading your signature reminds me of a dream I had when I was like 12. I had a dream I grew up and married a guy like you, and had a horse and cattle ranch and I was a nice plump house wife who spent my days making big giant meals for my big working farm boys. ;)

Hey jennie... first of all, congratulations on quitting. I hope you are still sticking to it. :D
I think something that many of us do not realize is that excessive smoking (along with drugs, coffee, chocolate, etc.) is just a result of our addictive personalities... something that I believe everyone possesses to a certain degree.
The problem many people face when trying to give something up is that, even after their body is no longer physically craving whatever it was getting from our habit, we still have a very deep-rooted psychological craving for that habit... or at least, we tend to THINK it is for that habit.
In reality, your desire for the actual act of holding a cigarette, inhaling it, and breathing out the smoke from it is your addictive personality trying to manifest itself in the most familiar way it knows how.
You can do all the meditation & self-hypnosis you want but that personality isn't going anywhere.
What you need to do is find other things (hopefully more constructive) to feed it. Things that you can feel passionate about... even if its just a little bit. Once that side of you starts to "fiend" over the positive feelings you get from those other things, it will look to those activities to fulfill it's cravings.
People tend to think negatively about "addictive personalities" but I have to disagree. The power that we, as addicts, possess (that which drives our addictive personalities) is HUGE when focused in the right direction. We tend to possess more drive, determination, and tenacity than those with lower levels of this addictive power. Sure, it can definitely get us into more trouble but with greater reward there is always greater risk.
Lastly... people often talk about or experience trading one habit for another. What they are usually doing is just refocusing ALL of that addictive power into one single activity. Then that addictive power consumes that single activity and craves it constantly. If you can find real passion in different areas in or activities of your life you can use that energy to excel in ways that you never were able to before.
It's all just in your mindset ;)

It's a Suthern thang. We're supposed to wear black for Starby for 3 months since we're not related. Alty and Arty are supposed to wear veils and loosen their corsets. You, as a friend of friends, are not required to mourn, merely sympathize.
This is the downside of being a Southern Gentleman.
