    PC ratings your input
I am interested in having your input rating the following companies to supply me with a relatively low cost, under $800 PC primarily for home use, want to use MS Flight Simulator which requires a 8500 or better graphics card and, I guess, a higher wattage to support same. Everything else is simple, Vistas Home Premium, Office, surfing the web and using Outlook Express.
I am not very computer literate.
    Rate these, would you.

    Dell...

    Lenovo...

    Gateway...

    HP...

    Other?.

    Thanks.

HP is the top selling brand in the world. I'm sure you can find several HP models that meet your specs.

Gateway is having some survivability questions. They spun off their Biz suppoet a couple of years ago and that company is now in receivership big mess
The retail seems to be going on for them just a consideration I liked their products

Gateway was purchased by Acer about a year ago. I don't recall reading that Acer was in any trouble.

Sorry you are right there Acer though did not bite on the corporate - organisational sales and support. That folded on stuff before the Buyout. I do not know what has happened in the last half year or so my sales rep is gone and the transaction did not go smoothly from where I sat. Still I always liked the products and I also like Acer. If presented with a good support system I would consider them again.
I have not heard any horror stories on the consumer support side

Umm was this a mistake? What possible justification was there for a negative rating here?

Ratings... [ 1 Answers ]

Hello: I'm relatively new here, and I'll bet you've had this discussion before... But, I don't want to look it up. The ratings (or whatever they're called), suck. I always new it. I just didn't want to rock the boat. It's the agree or don't agree thing. A newbie (on this site) recently...
