Leg lifts while lying on your back may help. Start slow by keeping knees bent and legs very close to your body. As you get stronger, lift the legs higher.
These can give long term results.

This helps, but it won't get rid of your tummy... it will just strengthen it.
The lower abdomen is in my opinion the HARDEST to get in shape... my best advice is:
Eat a little better, do cardio 3 times a week, and do leg lifts like dana2007 said.

Some people believe aspartame can either cause pain or increase existing pain. I'm not sure what kind of pain but it does include pain from arthritic deceases.
There is a healthy sweetener called stavia. Might want to look into getting some of that to use as a sweetener.
Maybe you can switch to green tea which has known health benefits. Some believe it can help lose weight. Google around and do some research on it.
If you decide to try green tea, avoid boiling the water. Just heat the water before it reaches boiling point to avoid damaging the nutritional benefits.

A good way to exercise is to alternate body parts. This avoids getting tired. Two body parts to use to excersise the abdomenal muscles is:
1) do 15 repetitions of crunches (for the upper abdominal muscles)
2) do 15 repetitions of leg lifts (for the lower abdominal muscles)
So do 15 upper and then switch to 15 lower
If you can handled 3 sets of each, start there otherwise you can start with as few as 15 uppers and 15 lowers and increase gradually as you get stronger

Plenty of fat burning exercises such as the treadmill or exercise bike (cardio exercises) will help a great deal. A good diet is essential too.
No amount of crunches or sit ups will give you the perfect tum if you still have a layer of fat over the top.
Start with 3 sets of 10 crunches followed by 20-30 minutes cardio exercise. You will see results in no time. Good luck
