Delta Waterfall kitchen faucet, model 2476

    ------

I have a Delta Waterfall kitchen faucet, model#2476 and have determined (through Delta) that the diverter needs to be replaced. Problem: I cannot get the spout off. I have the diagrams for removal but the diagram does not indicate how to loosen the spout. It appears to have some time of retaining clip near the base, but all efforts to remove have failed. I did receive one suggestion to turn the spout to the right to 'lift it off', still cannot get it off. I also replied to the answer I was given and attached picture of the base of the spout... still no response and I am sort of desperate... I cannot run my portable dishwasher until I replace the diverter. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks
Could not find a place to attach my photo of the base of the faucet

On the water fall, you pull the trim piece up at the base of the spout, it is not screwed on, it simply slides up. Then there is a plastic piece that is cut, kind of like an outside snap ring that peels off. Then the spout lifts straight up by twisting.
