    Bathtub tailpiece removal - how?
    Hi,

I want to remove a bathtub drain tailpiece to repair the tub stopper (one of those metal stoppers that is integrated into the tailpiece.)

This is a modern style tub with a one-piece tub surround, by the way, rather than an old style tub with open access to the plumbing connections.

Is there any way to remove the tailpiece without going into the wall behind the tub? I sure hope so, because it seems to me it would make the job a whole lot easier.

    Thanks,

Please explain, in detail, the problem that you have. A tailpiece is the pipe that runs from the drainage tee to the trap. Is this what you wish to remove?
Or could it be the touch toe stopper,(see image) that you wish removed? Regards, tom

Actually... the touch toe stopper IS the piece that needs to be replaced. The "cross-bar" piece that supports the stopper itself corroded through and broke.

    Thanks for the reply!
