    Kenmore Washing Machine 21302 Problem
My washer stopped working. At first, I noticed the cycle would not start. The lid would lock to cycle, then unlock soon after... it wouldn't cycle. Then, I realized it was full of water and had not been draining. Then the lid started working again. I tried various cycles, including Drain and spin but it would not drain. Then drain and spin and other cycles actually caused more water filling. Also, the water was all over the place, up under the lid and bowl... like it was forceful, under pressure. I had to drain the machine manually. When I took the drain hose off, it would drain so quickly without difficulty. If I reattached the drain hose and placed in the sink, it would not drain through the hose. When I dropped the hose down to the floor at the level of the drain spout where the drain hose attached, the water would drain. Thoughts? I appreciate any help!

You need to get a good digital meter in order to repair any appliance because about 50% of problems are electrical, 40% are dirt buildup, and 10% are mechanical, I would estimate in most appliances. There are many simple little problems caused by a little corrosion that you can only find with a meter. I recommend a Digital Clamp Meter by Commercial Electric for $42.38 that you can see at: Commercial Electric Digital Clamp Meter-MS2002 - The Home Depot. I have been doing HVAC and electrical work for over 35 years and I would never try to repair anything without my meter. This meter does it all so you do not have to guess about bad parts and you can use the clamp feature to test amperage in order to find a bad breaker (You clamp it around one hot wire to check amperage going through the wire.), and you can even diagnose a motor problem or see if an air conditioner is not doing the work it is supposed to be doing due to a dirty set of coils. On the washing machine I would check the water level switch and the water solenoids to start with. When you use it on "ohms" make sure to unplug it from power.
