    Sidewall power venter troubleshooting
My sidewall power vent is making a loud noise, similar to that of an old bathroom vent fan. Does it need replacing or just serviced? Thanks

We couldn't tell you that without being on the job...just not helpful to guess on this for you. Depending on the age of the unit it may be salvageable, but then again, you just don't know! Contact a local service person and have them look at it. Another option would be to call the manufacturer of the boiler (or water heater or furnace) and talk with their tech. service department...they should be able to tell you more. If you choose to call the manufacturer have the MODEL# and the SERIAL# of the unit handy...it is the first thing they ask for, OK?

From what I'm reading, I presume this power venter is not a part of the appliance but is mouted external to it. Is that correct? If so, do you have a make & model of the venter? Pictures are always welcome & can often help a lot.
