Light blew out and now remote no longer works the lights
I ran out of replacement light bulbs for my Hamilton Bay ceiling fan which operates by remote control. I didn't pay attention when I purchased the new light bulbs that although they looked the same, the bottom part that is screwed into the socket was slightly different. I had turned off the light with the remote control so that I could remove the burnt out light bulb and replace with the new one. I installed the light bulb, turned the light back on with the remote control and then instantly, the light went "poof" and blew out. Not knowing what happened since I had replaced many light bulbs in the past and nothing like this had ever happened, I took the lightbulb out and saw that the bottom part of it was slightly different than the others that fit into the socket. Went back to the store, got the right ceiling fan bulb and inserted it - fine, it worked, however, when I went to operate the remote control, it now only works on the fan and no longer for the lights. I have to either pull the chain from the fan or use the switch on the wall in order to get the lights on - bummer! PLEASE HELP ME I LOVE MY FAN AND REMOTE CONTROL. What happened and can I reprogram the remote so that I can operate the light using the remote again? The fan still works by using the same remote and was never affected. The fan is more than 10-years old and I no longer have the paperwork that showed how to reprogram the remote.
