Remote no longer works on my Hampton Bay fan
All of a sudden last week the remote stopped working on my Hampton Bay fan..
    (model: #55295, 54 inch Brushed Steel w/Remote)

    Things I have done:
    1) Replaced the batteries in the remote
    2) Ensured the dip switches match on the remote and the fan
    3) Ensured there is power going to the fan

    Things I know:
    1) The wall switch still turns the light on and off, however the remote will no longer turn the light off, nor does the fan work via remote (note: it never worked off the wall switch unless I left it on via remote, the wall switch is strictly on/off)

Fan is obviously receiving power. Indicator lights on remote still work, and act as if I am turning the light and fan on/off, but nothing happens with the fan. This model of fan does NOT have pull chains. Remote has an led screen on it displaying light on/off, temperatures, fan speed, etc.
Should I assume something is wrong inside the fan, receiver burnt out, or something? Is there a way to test the remote or fan portions?

Fan is 3 years old, so not sure if still under warranty, but wanted to check with all of you to get ideas before I go to Home Depot and have them try selling me things. Thank you in advance!

It is most likely the receiver. The only way to know for sure is to replace the remote or receiver, and see which fixes it, UNLESS the fan has pullchains. Does it?

Thank you for your reply. No, my fan does not have pull chains.

I had an electrician friend come over to ensure that the fan was getting power, and it is. He then tested that with the wall switch on the light portion was getting power, it was not. Essentially it appears as though the receiver unit is not functioning, also, if you smell the receiver unit it has that electrical smell when things go wrong.

Long story short, it appears I am at the point of sending the receiver in to be looked at by Hampton Bay/Home Depot or just buying a new one.

Yeah just order a new one from them. It might be under warranty.

Hampton Bay Remote Ceiling Fan - light works - no fan [ 2 Answers ]

After about 4 months of use, this began to happen. I would try to turn on the fan (either Low Med or High) and the fan would barely turn. Sometimes it would work - this lasted for about 5 days. Since then, if you try to turn on the fan, you get no response. Now, the light will still turn on...

Tip: Hampton Bay Remote Fan - Fan works by remote, lights do not. [ 10 Answers ]

I figured this may help somebody here. I have a Hampton Bay remote controlled ceiling fan... the kind without pull chains... and the remote will only operate the fan portion but not the light. The light is always on. Not a big deal, as the light switch on the wall could be used to turn the light...

Hampton Bay Fan w/ Remote: Light Works, Fan Doesn't [ 4 Answers ]

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I just installed a Hampton Bay Andover fan w/ remote (no pull chains) but the fan won't start. The light fixture works fine (using the wall switch remote) but I can't get the fan going. I tried the reverse...

Hampton bay fan remote works the speed not light [ 3 Answers ]

I installed this fan OK... it was fine for 2.5 years now the remote only works the fan speed. It does not work the lights. I removed the fan and checked connections which are good.Luckily the fans lights are in the on position and POWER is through a wall switch, that controls the lights. But I wish...

Hampton Bay ceiling fan works great... Until I add the remote controller unit. [ 3 Answers ]

Hi, I'm the "proud" owner of a Southwind V ceiling fan. I'm a pretty cautious person by nature so when I installed the ceiling fan I left out the optional remote controller piece to make sure all works well. Blue and black fan wires to the black wire in the wirebox, and white on white (grounds...
