    constipation
My husband is having problems with constipation. He was put on a fiber drink similar to benefiber several weeks ago. He had a small bm 5 days ago but was having extreme stomach pains and went to the hospital. At the hospital they put him on bental for pain and miralax as it showed on the x-ray he was still severely constpated. As of now he still hasn't had a bm. He says he can now feel it in him. What should he do now?

He needs a good gastroenterologist to start with. In my area that takes two months or so and usually a referral too. Hope it is not that way where you are. Maybe a walk-in clinic or back to the ER. I believe a remedy will be available but we can't make any specific medical recommendations here.

They gave him bental and told him to use Miralax 1 time a day. He just called them and they had him try an enema but had very little results from that as well.

Miralax can be used all day every day. There is no overdosing on Miralax. So, first of all, he needs to increase that. The best enema is a soap suds enema.

Ok I will have him up the Miralax. But I can't get another enema for him due to money but he did take some ducolax tonight too. I guess the hospital told him to do that today.

My son has this problem frequently. When it occurs I give him Miralax, best mixed in apple juice, frequently throughout the day. I'm not only a nurse, but this was also advised by our doctor.
