    Caught Giving Extra Hours
I was recently caught giving guys extra hours for cash. They said we combined for over $200,000 in the past 2 yrs. They said the other guys confessed. They said they would not press charges against me if I cooperated. I was not fired right away they gave me a week to think about it. They wanted me to write a letter saying I gave extra hours to x, y, z and how much cash they gave me. They gave me the letter they wanted me to write which I kept. I refused to write their letter I was fired. Can they press charges against me without pressing charges against the rest. Can I use this letter they wanted me to write against them?

    Hours of what?

Standard interrogation technique. Separate the suspects and tell each that the other spilled the beans. I would bet the other guys said nothing. They were playing you.

Can they press charges against me without pressing charges against the rest.
    Certainly.

Can I use this letter they wanted me to write against them?
    Probably not.

If you as a supervisor allowed employees to work overtime with them paying you a kickback, I'm not sure if there is a criminal charge here. If you are in the public sector, maybe.

Definitely grounds for termination of employment, though. But we need more details to answer further.

Yes they can turn this over to the police and press charges.

Yes they can press charges against you and not others if they have a better case against you.

They may also sue you in civil court for damages of the money.

The letter is most likely a confession, they wanted, they have the right to do that, you had right to confuse, nothing to use against them
