    Is it possible to breast feed a baby that you did not birth
    I'm adopting a baby in November and I would like to breast feed. Is this possible?

    Generally no... you won't be lactating to be able to.

    Oh, come on people. Really? Have you never heard of wet nurses?

    While it is possible, it is highly unlikely. You will have to have your hormone levels checked. Primarily the Prolactin Hormone. It is possible that you can do this. Don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible.

    The level of prolactin will vary depending on a number of circumstances. How old are you? Are you on any medications?

    To increase your prolactin levels you need to have a diet high in proteins. You also need to stimulate your breasts daily with manual stimulation.

    Most women who give birth are not producing milk at birth. It takes an average of 3-7 days for a woman's milk to "come in." There ARE ways for an adoptive mother to achieve this though.
