My husband gave up his rights to his child when she was a baby. She us nearly 15 now. Me being his wife what rightd do I have towards her? If any at all. She has been adopted and I am not even sure if they changed her name. Need help because we have never forgotten her, I have kids and they would love to meet there older sister.

You have no rights and neither does your husband, if she has been adopted.You are not a step mother, since he is not her father.

IF her parents allow a relationship, that is totally up to them. If not you can wait until she is 18 and she can decide.

If your husband gave up his rights and the child was really adopted, you have no rights what so ever, in fact even if he had not given up his rights ( which has to be done in court) you still would not have any rights.

How you look for her depends on where she was adopted (state) and what arrangements were made at the time, as well as what she herself may have put on record about being contacted (if she even knows she's adopted). Your husband has to do the work, starting with the state agency. He can go on file now as waiting for contact, if it's that type allowed.

Did both your husband and the mother give her up for adoption? If not, you can start with the mother. If yes, then he needs to check the terms of the adoption.

But there are many clearing houses where adoptive children and parents can list themselves if they want to be found.
