You don't add anyone to a lease once its already signed... or is it that you want to lease a property to someone who does not have a US-ID?

DO they have a valid VISA allowing them to live in the USA, and a passport?

If you want to attach an addendum to an existing lease including another person on the lease, that is up to the landlord and tenant. If both agree and both sign the addendum, there is no issue.

However, if the other person does not have a visa allowing them to reside in the US, then you have no obligation to add them and, you could get in trouble for doing so.

Depending on exactly where this is, you can rent or lease to someone with NO ID if you want to. Does not protect you and does not mean you are following the laws of your local area.

Laws go either way, there are some laws that state a person has to be a legal resident to rent, and of course there has been cases where that was found to be illegal by court and a landlord can not discriminate because of immigration status. So if you are in Texas or MN or California may make a difference.

With that said the other renter has to agree to modify the lease, and it has to be in writing.

But people rent to people from other nations all the time, "alot" of rentals is people here on business from other nations, but they will have a passport and visa to show they are here legally on business.
