I say the boss asked me to do this obviously to claim the money back when he

I assume you are in England.

What was you getting from this... it seems like a rather strange request for an employer to make so THEY can make money but not you, that's what the court is likely to think as well.

You are going to have a very difficult time proving what you stated... they will have evidence of you taking the money and at that point your fate is sealed.

Just to be clear... you are talking 22 THOUSAND 500 pounds sterling? That's a rather large sum of money and will be a major crime. If that's the case... you need to find a very good Solicitor to defend you.
