Is there a case to answer for Infringement of privacy. As a comment was made on Facebook and someone Copied pasted the statement made and used it by contacting the police and I have received a on the spot fine for, and I quote " made an offensive comment on facebook which cause annoyance, inconvenience and needles anxiety"

No, you had no reasonable expectation of privacy when you posted the comment on Facebook.

Let me give you an example: If you had written to "B" a letter including the sentence "C is an idiot.", and if were to report it to the police, you would have no recourse against B, because it was your choice to write the letter to B, and you cannot restrict what B will do with the letter.

Is there any proof that the person about whom you made the statement was ever aware of it?

This "on the spot" police fine is, however, over-the-top. Is this the UK? Apparently it's a totalitarian, Big Brother- run society now. Sad.
