Does anyone know of a boy went missing in the early 40's or 50's?

His name would've been Johnny Brown, he went missing or was kidnapped in the early 40's or 50's. His parents would've still been looking for him up 'til just recently and he would have never been found. Does this story sound familiar to anyone?

It's about a guy who has an angel in his backyard tree... he keeps trying to convince people of it, and finally I think his wife figures out its true. The angel can't leave the tree, why I cannot remember. It's black and white, and I remember seeing it about 35 years ago. Any ideas?
