Where can I get free answers about fileing taxes as a single mother with no income?
I am a single mom and have 2 daughters. I currently live with my parents and I am doing online sources for nursing school, I have financial aid money that helps me out with school. My parents are in able to file taxes claiming me and my children, because they owe back taxes so I would not get any money back. If would only go towards there taxes. Is there any thing I can do to file taxes so I can get out of my parents house and get a car. I desperately need some advice, the father of my girls does nothing for them. He has 2 jobs and pays no child support, but wants to claim them and keep the money to pay off probation bills.

I assume that you have no income and have had no withholding - is that right? You can't get something "back" if you haven't paid any taxes. You don't qualify for the earned income tax credit or child tax credit unless you have earned income and/or owe income taxes.

Since your parents support you the best thing would be for your parents to claim you and your daughters (assuming you meet the rules for being their dependent), so that they can get a start on paying what they owe.

Your ex can not claim the children as his dependents, as he is not the custodial parent. Further - if he is not meeting his child support requirements you can take him to court and have his wages garnished so that you get the help you need.

Yes I don't understand why letting your parents claim and helping them is not actually one of your first choices.

That is what is happening, you are living there, they are obviously paying all of your bills since you have no income.

You may want to ask question in nursing about "online" nursing at to what level in nursing you are.

I too wonder about the legitimacy of on-line nursing courses. Nursing is very much a hands-on profession (my wife is a home care nurse), so on-line courses have only so much utility In my opinion.

Earned income tax single mother with children [ 1 Answers ]

I have 2 children and I made 2035.50 and I am getting back 950.00 Should I be getting more because I have 2 children and I am a single mother ? Also, they charged me $200, and it's the 8-15 day refund. Is this normal? I find it odd that I worked more and had another baby but I got less money...
