I have a 200 amp Federal Pioneer main panel and a 60amp going to my sub-panel in a detached garage 93 feet away.
I have purchase a 105,000 BTU Pool Heater so I think that I need to change the cable going to the sub-panel.
I have a person that has 3 rolls of 125' of SW 4/0 for sale. In another add, it is called SM 4/0 (this one is in french). He says that it was used as a service entry to the house. Says that it is good for 200amp.
I asked him would I need a 200 amp breaker in my house?
He answered: No,No, there are places in your box if you want to connect directly in it, but it would be good to put a shut off switch in between the two if you want to work in your electric box of the garage.

Does this make sense?

We need to know where your located. Most if not all here that answer questions are located in the USA, as I am, and I never heard of SW or SM cable.

Can you provide more detail on this type of cable?

Perhaps a link to a spec sheet?

I am from New Brunswick Canada. As for the SW or SM, that is what the seller is saying. He leaves about 2 hours from where I am that is why I am trying to figure out prior to going 2 hours and still not knowing if that is what I can use.
I will try to get more info as I was hoping someone knew what he was talking about.

Hi Again
I found out what it is. He says RW90.
Now I have a choice
Option 1:RW90 SM 4/0 - 3 rolls of 125' for $200 (I will need to purchase a ground wire with this option)
OR
Option 2:ALCAN SM 3C 4 AWG ACM NUAL NMD90 XLPE 375' for $300.
If I go with Option 1, I would replace what I already have or with Option 2, I would add another sub-panel.
I need this power since I want to hook up a Pool Heater of 105,000 BTU's and I think I need 50amps for this.
