Symmons TA-10 Cartridge Won't Come Out, Just Spins
I have a 20-year+ Symmons shower faucet that's been dripping, trying to get to the cartridge/spindle to replace it. After battling to get the handle off, I am now stuck trying to get part TA-10 out (the old cartridge). I can turn the cartridge 'til the cows come home, and I've tried to brute force it by trying to pull it straight out. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here - it just won't spin/pry loose!

    Help!

    Thanks,
    THH

Sorry this is 4 years late it looks but in case anyone else is experiencing the same problem I just had... here's the answer: Just use brute force.

That's what Symmons customer service told me. Apparently it should just pull straight out. Rather than hulking out on it, I used a little finesse and tapped it top, bottom, left & right a few times, then grabbed hold of it with some pliers and rocked it (however little it would move) side to side while pulling straight out the whole time. Eventually eased it out.

    That's it!

My suggestion would be, after removing the packing nut and the spindle mounting nut, reattach the handle. Then using a large flat screwdriver pry between the back edge of the handle and the wall.
