    visitation rights in Maryland
If you get child support does that automatically give the father visitation rights?

Also is there anyway to force him to give up his paternal rights so that my husband can adopt my child?

Child support and visitation are kept as separate issues. A court will decide whether visitation is appropriate without regard to whether support has been ordered or paid.

But its unlikely you can get a court to issue a TPR if the father refuses to agree to the adoption. We would, of course, need a lot more info about the situation to even guess at that.

If your husband wants to adopt, you should be consulting an attorney to prepare the adoption petition. The attorney can advise on the feasibility of getting a TPR.

Courts will seldom not allow visits, unless the father is a threat to the child, he will get it. He has rights to go to court and ask for those visits even if he is not paying child support.

If a parent stops or will not allow a child to see the other parent and there is no threat, this will often look bad at court
