    Fixing delta shower faucet
I am trying to fix shower faucet. But I can't find any shutoff valve. House was built in 94. If I shut off the main shutoff valve, do I have to turn off the hot water tank? I found the valve on toilet bowl and sink but not shower. Its kind of weird.

    Hi Satoechgo...

Not really so odd nowadays... ;)

First thing to do is to take off the shower valve handle and the trim plate that surrounds the shower valve... see if there are two integral shutoffs built into the valve. If you see two large slotted screw heads in the valve body those are shutoffs... just turn clockwise to shut water flow off while you work on the valve.

If there are no slotted screw heads at the valve body then next you would check for isolation valves that may feed the entire bathroom.

Finally, if you can't find shutoffs for just that bathroom then you will need to shut off the water main... should not need to shut the hot water as shutting the main cold water feed will stop hot water production as well. Just open faucets to a low point in the home and start the work on the shower valve.

More questions? Just let us know, OK?

Thanks. My concern was hot water tank as well. If I shut off main, water in water tank will drain or remain? My hot water tank is not that new(15 years old).

Water in tank should stay. If you find the water continues to drip and it is hot water then shut the cold water shutoff going into the water heater... ;)
