I am trying to find out the wattage the following thermostat will handle:

Honewell CT410B

I just bought to feed three baseboard heaters with a total wattage 3500 watts. Want to make sure this will work without overloading Thermostat

Also if Thermostat were overloaded and breaker did not trip what would happened would the line side wires melt or the load side wires melt?

Beats the hell out of me what this stat is rated, there are no electrical specs to be found at Honeywell either:

Which I find very odd that no load rating is published.

You need to contact Home Depot and/or Honeywell to confirm what load this device can handle.

An overload condition on a device that would not exceed the circuit breaker rating can result in fire, not just melted wires.

The paperwork that came with Thermostat does not say either.

I ask the overload question because the thermostat I am replacing had some problems. When I pulled it out the to line side wires were melted together and the wire nuts were melted together. However the load side wires were just fine.

I am replacing the breaker as the breaker never tripped. But I want to know what caused this to happen to begin with.

I would suspect loose connections, or a poorly made stat.

Electric heat is a sizable load, and can fatigue devices.

If it was bad thermostat wouldn't the thermostat be burnt up? Just asking as I want to figure this out.

I really need to find out the load rating of thermostat...

The only suggestion I have is to contact Honeywell directly to learn what the rating is of the new stat.
