Bank has no promissory note or title and is charging me
I tried to buy a 19 ft. vessel in August 2008. I was buying from a friend who sold it cheaper to me. I dealt with an online broker who found the lender. The lender was supposed to get contract, title and other information from the broker on the loan. This situation was up in the air for 6 months after the date of the loan was started. I was told to make payments and all would be fine. 6 months later, the bank called and said they don't have my contract or title to the vessel. I could not get title to the property or registration with no contract or copy of title. I could not do anything with it and it is sitting somewhere useless. The bank is trying to charge me for the loan when they don't have title, contract or anything but the few payments I made to them. The broker took off with the title so I had no security in paying for something that doesn't get transferred into my name. This has been a nightmare & the broker has 2000.00 of my money and title to the vessel I am being charged for. What are my rights?

Personally, I would suggest posting either on one of the legal or money forums.

You may more quickly get the attention of someone who is more expert in this area, since it's more credit/banking than it is finance. Sounds like you could need a lawyer.

I hope this was a lesson learned, unfortunately the hard way. You don't ever start making payments for something before everything is in writing, and believe someone else that "all will be fine."
