Hi,
We have a sewage tank in the basement that collects and pumps waste water out to our septic tank. It was installed last month by a licenced plumber. The pipes would clang at a certain point during the laundry cycle so today my husband strapped/secured the pipe that ejects the water to the outside world.
After a load of laundry I noticed water on top of the lid of the sewage basin. It is leaking quite quickly from the pipe my husband strapped, where the pipe enters the basin.
Did he break a seal at that connection? We had to unplug the basin/pump to stop it from leaking. Today's a holiday and we can't afford a plumber to come out today.
Any advice? My husband's a contractor and very capable... he just doesn't know plumbing!

Wait and call back the plumber who installed the tank.

It is his problem and worry, not yours.

The tank and labor is under warranty and should not cost you a penny.

Sounds like the pipes were improperly secured by the plumber.

However, he may be reluctant to warrant the work now that your husband altered it.

That said, there should have been installed both a check valve and a gate valve on the outlet pipe from the ejector immediately above the tank.

By closing the gate valve, you should be able to stop water from leaking out of those pipes unless the leaking connection is above both... or he didn't install them at all...

Thank you very much. There is something on that pipe above the tank (thanks to you, I'm pretty sure that's the gate valve). The leak is below that valve at the connection to the lid.
We will call the plumber back after the holidays to fix the leak and secure the pipes.
