    Basement Sewage Tank venting
    Hi,

    I have a sewage tank and pump in my basement that needs to be vented through the roof.

    The distance from the vent-hole on the tank to the actual stackvent (the one that goes through the roof) is about 8 feet horizontally.

    My question is this. Is it good practice to run a 2" ventpipe horizontally for that long or will it give me grief later?


    Your thoughts are appreciated.




    Just a little history on this project.

    I had my drains laid out by a certified plumber and he told me that two 1-1/2" 'cheater vents' would do the trick for venting. (shower, sink & toilet)
    However when I flushed the toilet for the first time nothing happened, until I removed one of the 'cheater vents' and then it would flush fine.
    So, that's why I am putting this vent in.

    Sewage ejector tank needs its own, dedicated 2" vent. It should not be combined with any other vents. This vent should terminate about 12" above the roof.

    I works like this. You fixtures will vent in the regular way and can be revented back to a existing dry vent. However the pit vent MUST be dedicated and run to the roof as a separate vent. The reason for this is while the fixture vent pull air in the pit vent both pulls air in and pushes it out. This should have been covered in the installation instructions. Call your plumber back and have him read the instructions or ask oine of us for help. Good luck, Tom
