    Goodman gmnt080-4 ignitor
I have a Goodman GMNT080-4 Furnace. It would not ignite, I changed the ignitor and it worked for 2 weeks. This morning it failed to ignite. Could the ignitor have gone bad again?

Remove the front panel to expose the burner area, then observe operating sequence. Does the ignitor glow? If not, check the status light on the circuit board - flashing indicates a fault. Check the code list label on the inside of the front panel. If the ignitor glows but no flame is observed, check the rollout switches that surround the burner housing. If any are "popped", a problem with the heat exchanger may exist.

I unplugged the ignitor and connected a meter. I am getting 110v at the connector.

Is the ignitor element visibly damaged? Check continuity through the ignitor - should be about 90-100 ohms at room temperature. The voltage you are reading at the connector is correct, but no load is present when you are measuring it. A more accurate voltage reading would be measured if the meter probes can be inserted into the connector while the ignitor is being powered.

Treat it like an egg, & don't touch the element with your bare hands.

No continuity through ignitor. 110V going through with ignitor connected. My problem with installing the ignitor is the furnace is set up as a down flow and sits on an A/C coil. Thanks again, I'm going to get another ignitor.

The failed replacement ignitor should still be in-warranty. Take it & the receipt with you for exchange.
