I go for child support court soon, and I want to see if he will give up his rights for our child, its been 2 years and he hasn't made any assumptions to see her at all anyway, I am afraid after child support court, this will stir something up on his part. Not worried about custody cause he is a registered sex offender. I wonder If I should just take him to court to get full custody, there is not a chance he will get any kind of visitation? Is there?

There are hundreds of questions and answers about giving up rights. It is basically extremely difficult and serves no purporse. Yes, I believe there is a possibility he could petition for and receive supervised visitation at some point. I would say nothing right now as long as there are no problems.

I don't see the Court stripping him of his rights.

Sure there is a chance. It may be supervised but there is a chance he will get it if he shows interest. Why did you decide to have a child with this man ?

As Judy pointed out, there are numerous other threads as well as sticky which can be read here regarding the termination of parental rights.

Also, you mention that he is a registered sex offender. When was he convicted of the crime: before or after you were pregnant? What crime was he convicted of? Depending on the circumstances, you may or may not obtain full custody; I know someone who was wrongfully convicted of a sex crime, but convicted nonetheless - he has 3 children whom he loves dearly, would never lay a hand on and he isn't required to have supervised visitation.

First just because you have "full custody" I would assume you have that now? That only means you have legal and physcial custody, does not mean the other parent does not have rights to visit. It is doubtful a judge will even allow him to sign those away, and if he does, normally he will still have to pay child support,

Since he is a registered six offender you can ask for only supervised visits.

If he is a registered sex offender, then you MAY be able to get a court to terminate his rights on the grounds that he represents a danger to the child.

So you really need to get an attorney to prepare the petition. That's your best chance to get this done.

By the way, support and visitation are handled separately. So he would have to file for visitations separately from the support hearing.
