    IC recessed lighting Romex contact
Need some help on recessed lighting. I am putting a set of 6 in. IC rated cans in my kitchen ceiling (between TJI joists). I ran into a problem where one can is going to be pushing against 3 existing Romex (14-2) cables. Only place this can will fit. Should I be worried about contact with the Romex (heat) ? Tx.

I am sure we can find data and ratings to allow what you propose, however, I don't think it is such a good idea.

Let's face it, a hot metal can will be up against plastic. Depending on the lamp type and size, it may last years. But every time the lamp is on, it will be drying out and breaking down that plastic, that has electricity in it.

Hopefully I now have put the notion in your head, every time that light is on, you wonder.

Either work around it, or protect it somehow.
