    Whirlpool gold washer
If you have a Whirlpool gold washer(and some others for that matter)that won't go into spin cycle, there is a very good chance the problem is with the lid switch. On my Whirpool gold washer the lid switch separated slightly and I was able to to use two zip ties to hold it together. This fix may or may not work with all models but suspect the lid switch if your washer doesn't go into spin cycle.
