    Kitchen Faucet a Trickle
This past weekend, I installed a new dishwasher in my kitchen. To do this, I had to turn the hot water off under the sink. I completed the task successfully - - no leaks, dishwasher working properly. However, now the water is barely trickling out of the faucet in my sink. Not only the hot water - - but the cold water as well. Which is odd, since I never shut off the cold water under the sink.

The water is running at full pressure in all other faucets in the house, and is running in the dishwasher (hot water from under the sink) and the ice maker and water dispenser in the refrigerator (cold water from under the sink). I've checked under the applicances, and there's no water leaking anywhere.

Why did my water pressure in my kitchen faucet suddenly disappear? What should I be checking that I haven't already looked at? Everything was fine prior to the install, and now we have a virtually unusable kitchen faucet.

Pull the aerator and see if you dislodged something that caught there. You will probably also have to pull the faucet apart to see if an orifice has picked up some debris that is plugging it up.

I agree, you likely knocked some crud loose when doing the install. Aerator is easy but like Perito points out it could be further inside the valve if the chunks are big.

    I think Perito nailed it!

Pull and check the aerator,(see image)r screens for trash. With the aerator removed you should have a full stream when you turn the faucet on. If not then tell me about it. Good luck, Tom

An update - - pulled the aerator, but still a trickle. All lines leading into the faucet are clear and running freely. Tried to rout out the faucet iteslef, but that didn't work, so it looks like I'll be installing a new faucet this evening. Thanks to all for the guidenace and help.

I would not expect to have to replace a faucet just because of crud. Is it a single handled faucet? Most have a removable cartridge or ball type valve that can be opened, cleaned or replaced. If it's a Moen the parts are free under the lifetime warranty.

It is single handle style faucet. Have never opened or cleaned one before. Kind of apprehensive about fiddling any more than I have, I'd hate to break it. Perhaps I'll surf around a bit and see what I can find on the web about dissembling and repairing a single handle faucet.

If you can get us a brand or post a picture there are several folks here who can help with what you need to do. All approaches will start with you closing the 2 stops below the sink, are there stops down there?
