Who did E.R. Braithwaite marry?
Did E. R. Braithwaite marry Gillian as suggested in "To Sir, with love"? Did he marry at all?

No, Judy. I am an English teacher in Bangalore, India and will shortly be doing "To Sir, with love" in my class. Am sure that the children will want to know what happened to the love angle in the story so I was trying to get hold of the information in advance!

As I recall - I was an English major - in the book there is much more detail about the relationship than there is in the movie (although I haven't seen the movie in years). I don't know if the question of marriage is ever directly addressed, although I rather doubt that a marriage happened.

Thank you for your help, Judy, I have since been able to get in touch with a friend of E.R. B's who has confirmed your opinion: he did not marry Gillian. He didn't get married at all! Yes, the book certainly has a lot more about his relationship with Gillian, which is why I was looking for further information about the relationship. Thanks again, I do appreciate it.
