    Running electrical wire long distance
    I would like to know if there is any way to run 120vac to a small hunting cabin for lights. I have access to a 120vac source at a 30amp breaker box but it is 2500ft away I am tired of using a generator with the noise and keeping gas replenished. Are there any inverters or boosters, transformers etc that will let me run power and keep cost down?

    In my professional opinion there is NOTHING you can do to make a circuit or feeder work at 2500'.
    You'll need a service from the utility brought MUCH closer to the cabin.

    They do have battery powered inverters that will run a small load for a short time.

    Have you considered solar? If it's just for lights you shouldn't need that big of a panel or a large amount of batteries. Size it right and you could run a small TV too.

    Maybe a propane fridge too.

    Just a thought. Be a lot quieter.
