    Bathtub leaks
When some members of my family shower, there is a leak from the tub area into the laundry room below. The leak does not come from the drain or the overflow. Any idea what the culprit could be? Thanks

"Maybe" is this a two piece or a three piece tub and shower. Do you see seams in the corners or where the wall meets the tub? Does the tub bottom standing in the tub flex at all with the weight of the person that was in there to make it leak. I had a situation like this that the tub surround leaked at different times. What it ended up being was the one person was leaning against the tub wall and it was enough to effect the seams and water got into the seams and leaked down stairs. Ic cloud only be a seam or the drain seal. To try and test that fill the tub up and get the person that seems to make it leak and have that person standing the water and move around a lot and see if you get a reaction. If not then we are back to the side wall seams If no seams a one piece the shower curtain. Is your shower head good and no leaks. Run the shower and move the shower head around and see if there might be a small leak behind the swivel head. Maybe that taller adjust the angle and this causes water to small stream up over the round chrome trim ring and it gets behind that and out of the tub. Check the tub top little lip for caulk failure. Does anyone fill up the tub too much and gets in and the tub waste and overflow leaks and the foam/rubber seal is not tight enough? Good luck and hope something hear works

Do you have ceramic tile surrounding the tub area? If so there's a good possibility, caulk may need replacing. When taking showers, the water will work it's way through any small orifice...

If you're sure that your drain isn't leaking then I would pay attention to where the shower stream hits the enclosure wall. If the wall's tiled then check the grout where the stream hits the wall. Over time tile grout can shrink and let water enter behind it. If you do not have tiled walls click on back and tell me more. I would first look at trim and make sure it is all properly sealing against the wall. If overflow plate is loose, or its washer is not aligned with the hole in tub, it will produce constant leak while shower active. I would also make sure the shower arm is screwed in properly with teflon tape on threads.
