    Collection agency collect a debt
My wife received a call from 'professional recovery consultants' about a credit card debt. She asked for their information to have a record of the call, then asked for a written notice in the mail concerning this debt. They refused, to make a long story short the caller said he was going to have a 'judgement against you for 5yrs' and hung up, end of call. We don't know what was meant by his comment and how to handle it from here. Thanks

Mostly it is scare tactics. They are suppose to take you to court to get the judgment. Until you get a court day ANYTHING they say is mostly scare tactics. IF they do get a judgment against you without giving you a court date I would try suing them.
They will call and say they are a lawyer, a sheriff, etc...
If you have a number you can look it up here and see what problems others have had with them.

I agree its scare tactics. If you have an address for them, then send them a letter stating that all future correspondence be by mail and that you require verification of this debt before you proceed any further.

They MAY be able to get a judgement, but before they can you will have your day in court.
