Llauren 2008 - Youer asking for quite a job to do ,replaceing the drum belt . Here is the way yours should be done < Yes the top comes off and so does the front , the drum on some come stright out towards the front of the dryer, Some the drum will not have to be supported while the front panel is removed,
And some will need a support under it (DRUM ). Ok lets get started . #1 - unplug the power cord from the receptical { LETS STAY SAFE } #2 - remove the top and FRONT panel . :: TO REMOVE THE BELT IF IT IS NOT BROKEN> :#1- DISENGAGE THE BELT FROM ITS PULLEYS< PUSH THE IDLER ARM forward to allow the belt to slide off the idler pully, now
Slide the belt over the drum towards the front of the dryer, REplace with the new belt
And work in reverse way I WROTE THIS ::( NOTE - You may have a little trouble getting the drum back in all the way , if you do slightly hold upward on the front and push inward 0n the drum. YOU MAY NEED A LITTLE HELP NGETTING THIS DONE , BUT YOU HAVE GOT ITY THIS FAR SO Don't SAY CANT( NEVER WAS SUCH A WORD ) Ok Prop it up < Pull the Idler arm forward and slide the belt onto the pully , Release the arm . Now finish putting it back togreather, :: IF you have any trouble just get back on hear and post it and one of us will come to the rescue , I won't be back on here until tomorrow night . Good luck and stay safe ,220 is not forgiveing;; GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS :: F.B.E. I know you can do it!

Maytag belt failure [ 2 Answers ]

Dryer belt has been replaced 2 times. What could cause repeated breaks? It appears the drive wheel off the motor (which runs fine) wears away the belt in one spot. Could this be tension problem? Drum turns easily by hand.
