Am I selfish because I don't want to be with someone?
I've never been with anyone and I don't think I ever want to be. I like my freedom of doing what I want and when I want to. I'm almost 30 years old and I guess I don't see the point in giving up the life I have now in order to be with someone.

I don't think it's being selfish... did someone tell you that you were being selfish?
It's possible that you'll run into someone down the road that might change your mind, but until then, why the heck not?
However, I don't recommend that you shut out everyone and not even give them a chance just to keep your ways... there are plenty of people out there that won't really make you change anything, and you might enjoy the company.

I don't think you are selfish either... and in hindsight I'm sure many people wish they would have waited a little longer to settle down/be with someone so that they could do all they wanted.
However, I don't think that you HAVE to be single to continue enjoying your current lifestyle... should you chose to enter a relationship, just make sure they have the same ideas as you do...

A big part of what life is about is making choices. If you have made that choice, then I don't think that it's selfish. I haven't had what I would consider to be a "date" in many, many years, but I do have a lot of very close friends with whom I associate and have fun.
Because of my work and lifestyle, I would have to make some pretty drastic changes that I would be hesitant to make if I were to commit to someone on a more permanent and frequent basis. Although, if someone were to happen along that I was really attracted to in a lot of ways and they were also greatly attracted to me, and we were both interested in being together, then I would be willing to make changes in my life in order to accommodate and maintain the relationship.

Fantastic advice. Give someone a chance if they are good company. Commitments don't always mean that you have to change who you are and what you're about or even what you do.

At least you know what you want and you're not taking someone for this ride and THEN dropping this bomb. It's YOUR life... do whatever works for you.

Hello,
I've been married for 20 years, daughters ages 20 and 18. Up until 3 years ago, I had my own business but moved so my husband could have more opportunities. I was perfectly fine with the move. It's weird how it happened, but I now work full time for my husband as his assistant. I was...

I am doing a lot of soul-searching these days after a bad breakup. I always had considered myself to be a very giving person, because I agreed to move when my ex wanted to move and I felt it was a big sacrifice. Looking back, though, I think I held a grudge for doing this for him and then I was...

We've been married for a little over 3 years now (no kids). My wife brings home work to do a lot which takes up the majority of her energy each day. This basically means not much gets done unless I do it. I cook, I clean, I pay the bills, and pretty much do everything else. We've talked about...

My husband has done many things to hurt me. To begin, he lied about who he was when we were dating. We were young and in college; he pretended to not smoke, get drunk, and go to church regularly. Thus, we seemed to have so much in common. We talked for hours; he swept me off my feet with...
