    Windows XP Scheduling Calendar
I'm looking for a scheduling calendar application for Windows XP.

I use Outlook Express for email and have it set up for address book back-ups, etc. Also, it took my wife a long time to get used to OE so I prefer not to change to Outlook.

I know that Windows XP and OE do not contain calendar scheduling.

I do have Office 2003 which I believe contains Outlook with calendar scheduling.

Question #1) Is there a way to just extract/use the calendar function of Outlook and continue to use OE for email?

Concern: when I first downloaded Office 2003, if I remember correctly, Outlook took over my address book from OE. I had to manually retype all my email addresses in OE. I have since uninstalled Outlook.

Question #2) If I reinstall it, will it take over or conflict with OE?

    Thanks...

Very Cool! Didn't know about that.

Question: For "Contact List" is gives 2 choices. MS Outlook and Address book.

I want my email contact list (address book) to be part of Outlook Express, not Outlook. If I select "Address Book" will my contact list stay with OE (.wab file)?

I believe your address book is your address book and will open in whatever you happen to be using

Link below has some other links to more information

You can share information between the Outlook Contacts folder and the Windows Address Book in Outlook Express. See these MSKB articles:

Hey Seahwk. Thanks for the links. I read through them, and of course, now I'm even more confused (but I know you'll cut me some slack since this is "Computers for Beginners").

Maybe this is less complicated than it sounds.

If I may, let me ask a direct question. I have a link to my wab file, so when I back up my files, I back up my address book as well. I just want to keep using my OE and wab for email & address book. The only thing I want to use Outlook for is Calendar / Scheduling.

I just remember the last time I accidentally loaded Outlook (when I was reloading Office) and it took over my wab file and changed it to a PST file. So I could no longer back up my address book (at least I didn't know how).

So, bottom line, (here comes the question) is there some way I can install Outlook and just use the calendar, without it messing with my OE wab file?

Also, (2nd question) if I did screw up the wab, etc, would a system restore to an earlier date fix it? I know restore doesn't change data files, but what about the address book?

    Thanks...

You should already have outlook to use calendar

1 - In internet explorer, click on tools and then internet options

2 - go to the Programs Tab

3 - Go down to calendar and you should have option to choose what program to work with calendar

    for address book
1 - In internet explorer, click on tools and then internet options

2 - go to the Programs Tab

3 - Go down to Contacts and choose address book and not Outlook

    This link may help
Convert PST to WAB. Export MS Outlook Contacts to Windows Address Book (WAB) File
Export Outlook Contacts to vCard, Lotus Notes, Excel, WAB - vCard Export

    Above link does state:
Try SysTools vCard Export tool for FREE to convert Outlook contacts to vCard, convert PST to WAB

The system restore will restore your registry settings

I would suggest once everything working as desired, make a backup or copy your .wab and .pst files to another folder or disc so if ones you have get corrupt, you can copy back your saved ones to origianl directory

    Hope this helps

You can import your events on Google calendar to Microsoft outlook!
In Google calendar click the gear and click calendar settings, click on the calendars tab. Click on import calendar.
You will have to save a file which is your calendar!
In Microsoft outlook click file and then click import and export.
Click on import an iCalendar(ics)or vClaendar file (vcs), choose the file you saved earlier.
Afterwads click new calendar on the popup box that appears.
Now a new calendar will appear with all your events that you had on your Google calendar!

    Hope this helps!!
