    Washer Drain Hose Check Valve
    Hello,

I just purchased a new washer, and am attempting to connect it to the existing drain. The existing drain consists of a 1" pvc pipe up from drain in basement. Cannot put a proper stand-pipe because part of it travels outside and back into the basement below floor. A conventional trap or elbow would freeze in winter. Present arrangement has worked for 15 years so far. It consists of a T connector with a check valve. The washer hose needs to slip over the T. Both hoses are 1", and the drain slips easily over the T, but is a teeny bit loose, even with clamp it dribbles a bit. I see that the former owners used some sort of waterproof caulking to fill in space. Any recommendations as to how to make this a tight seal? I have already filled in the nozzle part by wrapping with teflon tape. Now need to make the 90 degree join part sealed.

You are considering a closed drainage system. I have one on my washer also. I cauolked around the hose with wet rags and sealed it with duct tape. This has lasted for the last 5 years with no problems. Good luck, Tom

Must play with drain hose to get washer to drain and spin [ 1 Answers ]

Hi, I have a GE WCSE6270 Washer. After the washer fills and agitates, it starts to make a gurgling, clicking noise and will not finish the cycle (i.e. drain and spin). I noticed that the drain hose in the back was a little leaky, and in trying to play with it, it made the washer drain and spin...

Washer drain hose [ 1 Answers ]

My drain hose was cracked bad after twenty years and I replaced it with one I purchased at Home Depot. The original one was longer, but I bought this one anyway. The original was drapped over the hanger and then through the opening in the back cover and then hooked into the drain (which is...

Washer hose flow valve [ 3 Answers ]

I just bought new washing machine connectors at a national home improvement store. They are billed as flood preventative because they have a diaphram valve at the connector which shuts down water flow when flow exceeds 2.5 gpm. However, I can only turn on the water valves less than a quarter of a...
