I just purchased a new washer, and am attempting to connect it to the existing drain. The existing drain consists of a 1" pvc pipe up from drain in basement. Cannot put a proper stand-pipe because part of it travels outside and back into the basement below floor. A conventional trap or elbow would freeze in winter. Present arrangement has worked for 15 years so far. It consists of a T connector with a check valve. The washer hose needs to slip over the T. Both hoses are 1", and the drain slips easily over the T, but is a teeny bit loose, even with clamp it dribbles a bit. I see that the former owners used some sort of waterproof caulking to fill in space. Any recommendations as to how to make this a tight seal? I have already filled in the nozzle part by wrapping with teflon tape. Now need to make the 90 degree join part sealed.

You are considering a closed drainage system. I have one on my washer also. I cauolked around the hose with wet rags and sealed it with duct tape. This has lasted for the last 5 years with no problems. Good luck, Tom
