Rheem Heater RGPH 05NAUER start trouble light codes
    Hello,

I have the above heating unit which has failed to start today. It appears to be getting power. The two green LEDs are on and when the thermostat says it is "system on" the left green flashes in groups of 4 flashes and pauses and repeats.

About a month ago we had a startup problem and all I did was to unplug the unit and plug it back in and it worked. Now that no longer helps.

    Any ideas out there?

For starters do you have a amber light on your unit board?

    If not read below.

    TECH TIP:

If your existing Circuit Board has 2 green lights and NO Amber light. You will need to upgrade your new circuit board with a FLAME SENSOR KIT

If there is no flame sensor then you will need to install one, run the supplied wires per the instructions to the new 3 light control board. ( 2 Green & 1 Amber Light)
If there is an existing flame sensor, check the wiring, if it is spliced into one of the Hot surface Ignitor wires it will need to be disconnected and then run the supplied wires per the instructions to the new 3 light control board. ( 2 Green & 1 Amber Light)Flame sensors Installed with 2 Light Boards was spliced into the Ignitor wires.
Flame sensors Installed with 3 Light Boards must wire back to the control board.
ALL Rheem HOT Surface Ignition Furnaces should be equipped with a Remote Flame sensor.
If the Furnace does not have a Flame Sensor, a remote flame sense Kit should be installed. This Does not apply to Drum Furnace Models.

Look on the blower door inside. There should be a wiring diagram and a listing for your flash codes.

I'm not at home right now, but I do have that amber light. I'll check the door for the codes when I get home.

But get this -- I got a little "flustrated" and I banged on the furnace with my fist and it started right up! It is working! For now anyway.

    Thanks for the help.

You should have a tech come in and check for loose wire/ wire nuts, this could lead to a big problem

Check the blower door safety switch!

Then naturally check for lose connections after the blower door switch.

The code (4 flashes) indicates "pressure switch closed"
Pressure switch senses blocked vent condition, check blocked vent, or failed inducer or crack in pressure switch hose... mine does the same particularly when there is a large cold to warm or warm to cold cahnge in outside temp... I am doing further work on this, plese contact me at

[email protected] and I can give you any updates...
