As noted, this thread was moved from the Forum Help area. If you don't mind can you explain why you chose Forum Help to post this question instead of the forum we moved it to?

Navigate from the home page. A direct link is: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/heating-air-conditioning/

I'm not asking for an apology, but trying to understand how we can make the site easier to use. When you chose the Forum Help there was a bold red instructions to read this first. Did you read it, if not, why not? Since you had to scroll down all the other forums did you try reading the list? Why wouldn't you choose Home and Gardens, instead of Forum Community?

By the way, when you post a note, you automatically subscribe to the thread so you get an e-mail notice with a link to the thread so you can find additional responses to your post.

I am looking at furnace for a friend. The furnace will come on with that small fan and the pilot will light. However, the burner will not catch. This unit has a igniter I suspect that the igniter is bad. Is there any way to test it?
