Where do I go to file an eviction to start the process? (PA)
My boyfriend/roommate is listed only as an occupant on my apartment's lease, but he and I have a signed roommate agreement. He is not paying his end of the bills (again) and as per the terms of our roommate agreement I have given him 30 days notice to move out and the amount of back rent and utilities he owes me. However he has stated he will not leave and will not pay anything until he has the money. This has been going on for 4 years now and I just want to be rid of him.

Where do I go to file an eviction notice or start the process? I have looked online at the PA gov resources but can't get an actual address or phone number, just a generic 'file with the circuit court'. What's a circuit court and where do I find one? Do I just waltz into the police station and hand a copy of my roommates' notice to vacate to the sheriff? Also is there an official form I need to use or is my typed up notice to him sufficient. I need some specifics.

    Thanks!

    TENANT-LANDLORD HANDBOOK
This site should give you more information about how to evict him. You already gave him 30 days' notice. Do you have a copy of that notice? Good. Take that and use it as Exhibit "A" when you file a complaint against him for eviction.

The "file with the circuit court" means that you waltz down to the local courthouse in the county you live in. This may not be in the town you reside in but the town that is the county seat. You can find this in your phone book listed as Dauphin County Court, Warren County Court, Erie County Court, etc. Go to the clerk's office for filing civil suits. You can find a form online that you can either hand write out or put on your computer in a wordprocessing document and print it out. Your reason for evicting him would be non-payment of rent. You will have to pay a filing fee for this lawsuit. Some courts are about $100 to file this. Some less.
