    Clogged Kitchen Sink
After running my dishwasher, my double kitchen sink filled up with water. Now the water will not drain (its either not draining at all or draining incredibly slow). I'm not sure what the problem is, it seemed to be working perfectly fine before, no problems with clogs or draining water. I have no clue on how to fix this. The only thing I tried was using a plunger and pouring in boiling water... but I'm guessing the hot water isn't going to help unless the sink is emptied of the other water? I want to try and do this myself since I've had a plumber here twice in the past month to fix other plumbing problems. PLEASE HELP!

You did not mention a disposal unit so I will assume you do not have one. Something has clogged your drain obviously and hot water will do nothing to solve the issue as you found out. Try an industrial strength drain cleaner, they have them at Home Depot and Lowe's and dump that in and see if it works. I have had the same issue but I had a plugged disposal with some junk that did not grind up (celery, which is a no no) the industrial drain cleaner knocked that out and I was back in business.

Soemtimes that works but chemicals are bad they eat holes in your pies I think
Try snakeing it though the roof though the kitchen sink vent

I don't recommend putting harsh chemicals down your drainage system and I don't think snaking from the kitchen roof vent will get it. Most sink clogsl occur in the lateral drain line located in the wall. Before you go up on the roof remove the "J" band from the trap and sen a snake up into the wall. You will hit a bend about 8 inches in but once around that you only have to put out 6 feet more of cable. If that don't get it, like Plumber James says, " it's roof time". Good luck, Tom
