I Still Think That It's My Fault...
Hey,
So my stunt group in cheering put this new flyer up into and extension, and we hadn't done it before and so I was a little uneasy when my coach said to cradle it, I knew something was wrong, but I didn't say anything, and I obviously didn't push hard enough because she went flying over my head, and we had a lot of spotters, but I still tried to catch her. What I ended up doing was grabbing her shirt, and someother spotters helped to keep her from falling on her head, but she fell smack on her foot, and broke her leg in two places! She's going to the hospital tomorrow to see if she needs surgery, and even though our coach told us that it wans't any one person's fault, I felt like all eyes were on me, even though they weren't. And I told one of my teammates, and she told our coach and our coach called me and made me promise that I wouldn't blame myself for it, and my friends are trying to make me feel better, but I still feel like I'm just trying to get attention on myself, when I SHOULd be crying for my hurt teammate, when I'm just being selfish and feeling bad about myself. I should have told them to take it down and I didn't! But, I don't know, I just, uuh, I don't want it to be like I want attention or anything, because she was on MY side when she fell, the coach's daughter said that we should just dive to get our flyer, no matter what, and I didn't! I just put my arms out like an idiot! And let her break her leg! I was the closest person to her and I just didn't act fast enough, I could have stopped that from happening, and I didn't, and I'm sorry, I'm just sorry...

I'm sure you did the best you could!! Because if there is not a lot of time to catch the flyer then there is also not a lot of time to think about how to catch the flyer either!! If you dove to catch to catch the flyer you could have who knows broke your arm or something!! I am a backspot and every time somebody falls when I try to go out of my way to catch her... She's always fine but I well... usually HIT the ground!! So it's not your fault!! Think about, at least she didn't hit her head!! You tried the best you could!! Relax and don't worry!! Good Luck!! :) :D ;)

Look. You can't blame yourself. As a cheerleader and a base, there will be many times someone hurts something, whether it's a pulled muscle or broken leg. You weren't the only person putting the girl up. There were at least 2 other girls. One of the girls on the sides could have thrown before the other girl. But you can't keep thinking about what went wrong. If one thing you have learned, it should be don't be too scared to say something. Also, if you aren't ready to cradle, say wait a second, get yourself together, and then go for it. Don't feel guilty though, you grabbed her shirt, you grabbed what you could. You don't have 5 arms. Keep your head up, I hope I helped some!

Thanks, you did, we had a "team building" practice, and we all aired our feelings, and I started to cry when I talked about it, and I never do in front of people, but it helped and I feel better now, so thank you!

I think that you shouldn't cradle from an extension alone. I think you should go from an extension & den the backspot says cradle one two up down up . When she seys up put the flyer in a elevator & cradle fast , dats what my team does & its always a success. We got that from these girls in a competition. It looks real neat . Just make eye contact with the other base. I understand that your flyer got hurt. & its not only your fault its da whole stunt groups fault including the flyer. She probably didn't ride it and|or she bent her legs. I'm an flyer. & I can never bend my legs or not ride it because it messes everything up. What grade are you in? I don't noe but I think extension cradle is one the most basic thing in stunting. We do a lot more difficult stuff,& sometimes I fall too. But you have really pop her up and be real stiff. Be really committed and everything will be fine :]
