    Outdoor junction box
The house I bought has an GFI outlet in the middle of the back yard (they had a pool). I want to remove that outlet and place it further at the back of the property. Is there a issue with splicing the old wires to new ones w/wire nuts, putting them in a small junction box & burring it?

Burying them in Electric junction box OK, maybe use liquid electric tape. And have wirenuts, upside up(not to catch water)Move GFI protection.

There are underground splicing kits specially designed to make splicing cable simple and safe. Wirenuts is not the best way.

    See:
Ace - GB Underground Uf Splice Kit (Hst-1300)

Actually it may be better to GFI protect this cable with a splice, better safe than sorry.

Needs a heat gun or propane torch to heat the shrink tube.
