    Old debt new marriage
I have just been delivered court papers in Wisconsin for old credit card debt. I also just got married 1 month ago. If and when the say I owe them money and they make me fill out the form asking for financial info do I have to give them my new husbands info. He has nothing to do with this old debt so I think it would be unfair also the fact that he owns a house and cars. I don't want this to mess him up financially. Would it be best to get an annulment so he doesn't have to go through this? Do they automatically garnish wages? I am an only employee and I do not want to look like an idiot so I would quit before letting them know.

You do not have to list any assets of your husband's that are not held jointly. But, and assets held jointly might be attachable for this debt.

How about a car where the paper work slipped through the cracks and was not filed till after marriage and I am on it as a non- applicant spouse? Do I need to put his job info and bank info on the form?

Again, you only put information pertaining to your job and any joint assets.

All joint assets may be attachable. Unfortunately here in Canada now, when you marry you acquire the debts of your spouse. This is not fair but true. The same holds for devorce
