I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day and quit cold. I just got fed up with having no oxygen and energy. And stinking.

I've always been in shape. Except.... I started smoking when I got the job I have now, 13 years ago. At first it wasn't much, 1/2 pack a day, then I got a team leader position. There is a high stress level in the aircraft industry, as 99.9% is not good enough. An airplane can't pull over if something's wrong. Well, my smoking got out of hand, and I was sick of it. When our first son was in the yard he brought me a cigarette butt, when he was about 16 mos. old, and said "Daddy", I quit. Right then. We never smoked in the house ( my wife smoked up until she got pregnant), because we were worried about the second-hand smoke. I took Wellbutrin for about a week, then just stopped. It was hard, but I'm very hard- headed, and succeeded. It's been 6 years now and I'm still O.K.. I'm back in shape and am able to walk mountain trails without coughing up a lung. My inspiration was my son, well... sons now. That's all you need to remember, your daughter. Don't take a chance with your health. Tell Isaac to try to quit too, for her. I know money is tight, so this would be a huge help to the budget.

I know the challenge of quitting, and will never tell someone who doesn't want to quit to try to. I'll never complain about smelling someone's smoke, as long as it's not in a restaurant, or my children's functions. I know people who NEED to smoke, as I don't want to be around them if they try quitting. Not without a tranquilizer gun.

Just be determined, and just DON'T do it.
Did you edit?? I don't remember all this.

I've been doing good on my smoking until yesterday... *blush* after the fight with issac yesterday morning I went over to my moms house and smoked like a chiminy all nigth while thikning. But no more smoking. I didn't smoke ONCE today :D yay me.
Se for me, its not a chemical addicton. I don't need the NICOTINE. I need the deep breaths, and the hard exhales, and the physical habit of holding the ciggarette. Not to mention I'm a social smoker. If my mom goes outsdie to smoke, I'm going to go with her :P

Why not start a thread to quote all the different threads that that "Oops, wrong thread" has popped up in? (Hint: Simply search Alty's posts.)

You mean I'm not alone? Well, maybe we should just start a support group instead!

LOL classic! Yeah, maybe it's time we have an intervention with Alty. "This hurts us more than it hurts you, Alty."

According to John Cho, that's supposed to be the opening of a statement.

Like: Bless her heart, she's cute as a bug.

Or: Bless his heart, he's about as bright as a box of rocks.

Some Southern women think it's OK to say "ugly" things if they throw that in there.

Like: "she looks like a man, bless her heart" or " bless her heart, her hair is as coarse as a horse's tail".

That was Cho's point. He does a 10 minute routine about you can say ANYTHING about someone if you preface it with "Bless their heart."

I just searched for a clip... it's HENRY Cho. Oops.

My wife learned it years ago concerning flight attendants. I really get a kick out of older Southern women. At the beauty parlor every week, filling up on the town's "issues".

Back to the issue at hand. What were we saying about Alty? She has whips, chains, and Great Danes?
